The Role of Heparin in Embryo Implantation in Women with Recurrent Implantation Failure in the Cycles of Assisted Reproductive Techniques (Without History of Thrombophilia)

چکیده
OBJECTIVE Several studies have shown the improving effect of heparin on the outcomes of ART. Moreover, it has been reported that adding heparin in non-thrombophilia patients with RIF is useful. The aim of this study was to evaluate the beneficial effects of heparin on ART outcomes in women with history of recurrent implantation failure (RIF) and without history of congenital or acquired thrombophilia in a randomized, controlled clinical trial (RCT). MATERIALS AND METHODS In this study, 100 patients with a history of two or more failures in implantation in cycles of ART were randomly subdivided into two groups of study and control. Patients of the control group just received the luteal phase support. In the patients of study group, in addition to the routine support of luteal phase following in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intra cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), 5000 units of subcutaneous heparin was administered for 15 days from the day of oocyte pick up. Pregnancy test (β-HCG) was done for patient of two groups 15 days after IVF. RESULTS In the study group, pregnancy test was positive in 16 (32%) patients and negative in 34 (68%) patients. In the control group, pregnancy test was positive in 15 (30%) patients and negative in 35 (70%) patients. There was no significant difference between two groups for the role of heparin in the pregnancy rate (p = 0.5). CONCLUSION Although the effect of heparin on pregnancy was not statistically significant in this study, with regard to the numerous benefits of this agent, it is recommended to study its effects in further studies with lager sample size.

I-24: Recurrent Implantation Failure
Recurrent implantation failure (RIF) has many definitions, but usually authors consider RIF, the failure to achieve a pregnancy fallowing 2-6 IVF cycles in which more than 10 high grade embryos were transferred to the uterus. There are a lot of causes for RIF but two main causes of that are related to embryo and endometrium. Chromosomal abnormalities, zona hardening and problems in culture medi...
متن کاملThe Effect of Intercourse around Embryo Transfer on Pregnancy Rate in Assisted Reproductive Technology Cycles
Background Implantation failure is the most important cause of recurrent in vitro fertilization/intra cytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI) failure. Several reports suggest that intercourse during the peritransfer period might improve pregnancy rates. This study is designed to determine whether intercourse during the peritransfer period will improve pregnancy and implantation rates in patients...

Background: Repeated implantation failure (RIF) is the main problem after using assisted reproductive techniques (ART). The main causes of RIF as a multifactorial problem including decrease in endometrial receptivity, defects of embryo or combinational. Successful embryo implantation depends on trophoblast proliferation, migration and invasion to the endometrium, all of which are associated wit...

The success of assisted reproduction, although gradually increasing over the years, is still less than satisfactory. Many couples have benefited from this treatment; many have also been left frustrated following multiple failed attempts (Bulent Urman et al. 2005). Repeated implantation failure (RIF), defined as three or more failed IVF attempts or failure of IVF after cumula- Abstracts of the 5...
